Swimming Skills, Snorkelling and Survival lessons in Amsterdam

Swimming skill

During the swimming skills lessons, the children learn about the sport of swimming in a broader sense. The strokes learned during the ABC diploma are expanded to include competitive strokes and the children learn new techniques related to water polo, synchronised swimming and rescue swimming.

Snorkelling

At Swimming Club ABC, you can learn to snorkel. Snorkelling is a water sport in which you can look underwater while swimming by using goggles and a snorkel. This allows you to see the most beautiful fish under water while on holiday, but also allows you to play fun games in the water. You often wear swim fins or flippers while doing this.

Do you enjoy being in the water but doing something completely different from what you learned for your A, B or C diploma? Snorkelling means pure fun and adventure at the same time. Snorkelling is easier than you might think and anyone can learn it. Moreover, you will make new friends.

Take on a new challenge and see the pool from the other side! Those interested in the underwater world will have a fun foundation with our snorkelling diplomas.

To join our snorkelling lessons, you must have at least your B diploma.
Snorkelling lessons require snorkelling equipment, which consists of: a snorkel, goggles and swim fins. The use of a wetsuit is allowed, if desired.

Save yourself and your boyfriend

A group of enthusiastic instructors are at the poolside every week to guide children towards a swimming ABC diploma . Following the swimming ABC, children can participate in our advanced training at the ZwemclubABC Survival group. After obtaining the Swimming ABC, children are able to rescue themselves in various situations in the water. However, it does not end here for the survival group. Indeed, it is just beginning. In addition to the Swimming ABC, the survival group offers a teaching programme Survival and Rescue Techniques.

Throughout the lesson programme, there is plenty of focus on improving swimming strokes and endurance. After all, it is important that 'rescuers' can swim well and have some basic fitness(ies) before they can come to the rescue of others. Children's self-reliance is also further enhanced during the lessons by learning survival techniques.

The training begins by teaching rescue skills with both auxiliary and rescue equipment. Here, it is important that the children learn to recognise dangers and get tools to deal with them. During the lessons, children will learn what to do when they get into difficulties themselves. They will also learn how to recognise drowning victims and the safe way to take action. The rescue skills taught must be safe for both rescuer and victim.
