Who are we?
Swimming Club ABC has over 15 years of experience in providing swimming lessons ABC to children. We give swimming lessons ABC, swimming skills, snorkelling lessons, survival lessons and private lessons to children, in a heated swimming pool. The recognised swimming lesson instructors are always highly motivated and have extensive experience in swimming education. Enrolment is possible from 4 years old. We adhere to the requirements of the National Swimming Safety Council. The swimming school is tested annually for quality. Want to know more about the NRZ swimming diploma? How do we teach?
We build trust by working in small groups of up to 6-8 children, who are taught at their own pace by (almost) always the same swimming instructor. Because our swimming instructors are in the water, they can guide the children better and your child is coached individually in groups. In this way, we build a bond of trust with your child and swim together towards a child's success - the first milestone of a child's life, the swimming certificate.
When is your child swimming safe?
Being swim-safe means being able to 'survive in and around the water and safely move and recreate and have fun in Dutch water culture'. Swimming safety is determined by your child's skills in the water, by what he or she is doing and by the circumstances.
Your child is swimming safe if:
- He or she has mastered swimming skills;
- He or she is physically and mentally capable of saving himself or herself in the water;
- Your child has confidence in himself;
- Your child enjoys swimming and he or she feels comfortable and confident in the water;
- In addition, circumstances determine whether your child is swimming-safe:
- The dynamics of the environment.
- Your child is aware of possible dangers in the environment and knows how to act.
Can my child swim well?
Your child swims regularly at the local pool. You think he or she can swim well and your child wants to cross a recreational lake during the holidays. You think that should work. Halfway across the recreational lake, your child stops swimming. The water in the middle of the recreational lake is enormously cold. Muscles stiffen. You have to spring into action to help your child. Your child could swim well, couldn't he?
In this case, your child appears to be swimming-safe in the pool, but not in a recreational pool. In the pool, you are dealing with a controlled environment, pleasant water temperature and a clear distance to the shore. Your child's skills are sufficient in a swimming pool, but not sufficient in a recreational lake. This example shows that there are different levels of swimming skills.
